SOURCING ORGANIC AVOCADOS

Navaco sources all its organic Avocados for processing its Extra Virgin Avocado Oil, from local small-scale farmers located in the eastern part of Zimbabwe in the province of Manicaland. Avocados are sourced from Honde Valley, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Burma Valley, Vumba and Nyanga. Each farmer has between one and seven trees and most of these trees are self-propagated varieties growing naturally in the wild. Their oil content varies from six to seven percent. The avocadoes are purchased ripe at farm gate and transported to the processing facility located in Mutare.

The Organic oil produced from these varieties is a dark green to yellow colour with a nutty avocado smell and flavor.

SOURCING CONVENTIONAL AVOCADOS

Navaco also purchases raw material from commercial Avocado producers supplying the world market with fresh fruit. Product is purchased from all over Zimbabwe, producers are mostly concentrated in the Manicaland province close to the city of Mutare. All non-export grade fruit that is of good quality is purchased for processing. The predominant processing varieties are of the Haas type and fruit is transported from the farm to the factory for processing.

The Conventional Extra Virgin Avocado oil produced is a bright green to yellow colour with a mild nutty avocado smell and flavour.
